Front page draft

Creating the logo and tagline:
As the text for the masthead on the front cover, I used the font download website, www.myfonts.com. I used the 'sample text' of 'heat' and print screened it. I then cropped the print screen to the Clarendon Bold sample of 'heat', ready to manipulate in Photoshop.
I then opened the image in Adobe Photoshop, where I used the paintbucket tool to change the colour of the typography to red, conventional to Heat's authentic logo.

I then used the 'magic wand' tool to remove the background which will enable me to create the shadow Heat has behind their logo. To do this, I created another layer to the Photoshop image (right side of the screenshot), on which I placed a black version of the typography (see below).

Here you can see that the second layer in the background of my Photoshopped image (above left)effectively creates the shadow found on Heat's masthead (above right) on their magazine cover. I then flattened both the layers on Photoshop to create a final image, for what I will now use on my front cover to be conventional and look authentic to Heat's house style.
I have used the same process to recreate their tagline for my front cover.

The 5 stories around the outside of the front cover will be:
  1. Retail therapy- Made in Chelsea girls hit the shops as Millie and Pro Green say they are finished for good
  2. TOWIE's Georgia says boyfriend Tommy cares more about money than her
  3. Because she's worth it- Taylor Swift insures her famously toned legs for £26.5 million
  4. That escalated quickly- Kim K turns her platinum locks into a perm- all within3 days!
  5. Our favourite Geordie girls give us their secrets behind their recent weight loss successes
The main story's headline will be:
The Only Way is Honesty!

The main story's tagline will be:
The TOWIE girls reveal what actually happens behind the scenes from break-ups and make-ups, to scripts and borrowed clothes

From this I now know what photos I need to take to complete the front of my magazine- 6 pictures, each one illustrating the different stories.
